BIB2010: Sandia Peak, Albuquerque, NM
Brief BIB Biographies
Mark grew up and continues to live in the Bay Area and has the distinction of being the first Officially Retired BIB, doing so prior to BIB2019--he has the luxury of having the A's and Giants very close by. Mark is more of an A's fan because he was in high school during the heyday of the Charley Finley A's with their handlebar mustaches and their early 70's World Series runs, and those A's stay near and dear to his heart. He did manage to score tickets to three games for the inaugural season at PacBell Park (then AT&T Park, now Oracle Park--sheesh!). He had a horrendous commute into Silicon Valley, and needed these annual treks to maintain his sanity, but being the first retired, he just chills these days. Mark is the BIB Webmaster.  On the trips, he is the Designated Driver, responsible for securing the car and failing miserably in avoiding "one way rental car" charges on recent trips.

Scott grew up in San Diego religiously following the losing Padres through their "lean" years. Sometime around the Padre's first World Series appearance in 1984, Scott's interest in baseball went from healthy hobby to freakish obsession. He worships Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams and started this crazy idea of seeing all the Major League ballparks.  A road tripper by nature, not surprisingly, Scott derives as much pleasure planning the trips in intricate detail as he does actually going on the annual excursions.  On our trips, Scott is the Harsh Taskmaster, keeping the four of us to the intricate schedule he planned out months before.  Scott is also the first BIB Grandfather.

Kevin hails from the birthplace of professional baseball, Cincinnati. He believes that Peter Edward Rose belongs in the the Hall of Fame and that the Designated Hitter is unconstitutional. He surely holds some sort of record my having garnered 32 major league signatures on one baseball, including one inappropriately placed by Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennamen in the "manager's only" space across from the National League seal that prompted Tommy Lasorda to drop the F-bomb.  On the trips, Kevin takes notes of our travels (or is that travails) and is responsible for all of the brilliantly witty trip reports.  Kevin also was "forced" to participate in the Reds' Fantasy Camp associated with the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati and is the only BIB holding a full set of season tickets to his home ballpark.

Gerry is the "Cheesehead" connection, a lifelong resident of the great State of Wisconsin. Go Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and Marquette!!!! No small market whining here. New Miller Park finally brightens the Brewer prospects. It's been a long time since Yount, Molitor and Gantner led the BrewCrew to a World Series trip in '82. How can you not like a guy that grew up eating all those brats with the special stadium sauce! Two appearances in high school baseball State Championship games (2nd place - story of his life!) cause him to live vicariously through the BIBs and his 3 sons. Every trip with the BIBs is a Field of Dreams and deja vu all over again!!! They are 1st place kind of guys - sometimes!  On the trips, Gerry is the photographer, lugging 20 pounds of cameras and lenses everywhere we go.  Gerry is the second Grandpa in the group...congratulations, Grampa Gerry!
